The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Mr. Selma Dale, age 83, of Turtletown, TN, who passed away Saturday, January 09, 2010. Mr. Dale was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a son of the late Thomas Clingman and Mary Compton Dale. He was a talented guitar player and served as the janitor at Turtletown Elementary School for 21 years where he was much loved and respected by both students and faculty. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by siblings Wilson, Carl and Clyde Dale, Laura Cameron, Beulah Benfield, Lassie Holbrooks, Zora Jones, Ruby Curtis and Easter Adell Dale. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty one years, Louise Holbrooks Dale of the home. Niece Myrtle Gourley of Turtletown,TN; a host of friends and relatives also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 12th, at 8:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Paul Ray Harper officiating. Music will be by the Barker Brothers. Pallbearers include Steve Martin, Herman Boring, Luke Hall, Josh Cole, Dale Ingram and Paul Ray Powell. Employees of the Home Healthcare at Life Care will serve as an Honorary Escort. Interment will follow Wednesday, January 13th at 11:00 AM from the Zion Hill church cemetery.
