Mr. Seldon Hayden Johnson, age 79, of Ducktown, TN, passed away Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 in the Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Seldon was a native of the Polk County area and was a son of the late John M. and Ella Coleman Johnson. He was a member of the Mine City Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He had served on the Copperhill City Council and served as a Polk County Commissioner for twenty years. He was retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company where he was a Foreman at the C&S Plant. He loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Nella Ruth Johnson of the home; son, Johnny Johnson of Ducktown, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Gerald Hughes, Jr. of Ducktown, TN; brother, Edgar Johnson of Postelle,TN; sister, Ruth Cutcher of Postelle, TN; four grandchildren, Holly Norton, Heather Hedden, Matthew Hughes and Felicia Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Bradley and Landon Norton, Avery Hughes, Meredith Hedden and Trent Hughes. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 25th , at 3:00 P.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Al Patterson officiating. Music was by Ryan and Holly Norton and Joey and Michelle Pirkle. Pallbearers included David Cook, L.W.Smith, Mack York, Hoyt Firestone, Rick Hyatt and Stoney Standridge. Honorary pallbearers included Gerald Hughes, Sr., Dr. Allen Uhlik and former employees of the C&S Plant of the Tennessee Chemical Company. Interment followed in the Zion Hill cemetery with full military honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
