Mrs. Sarah Genise Haney, age 71, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Blue Ridge.

Born on July 29, 1954, in Blue Ridge, she was the daughter of the late James McVey and Hattie Richards McVey. Genise worked for many years at Copper Basin Medical Center, where she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She truly loved caring for those in need and was dedicated to her career. In her free time, Genise enjoyed collecting knick-knacks and traveling. Genise was a faithful Christian who grew up in Sugar Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth White.

Genise is survived by her beloved husband of thirty-eight years, John Haney; her children, Barbra Villona and Jennifer Haney; six grandchildren, Damon, Donovin, Dakota, Mika, Maia, and Japa; three great-grandchildren, Paisley, Gideon, and Natalie; her sister, Ruth Ann Shirley; niece, Sarah Miller; and two great-nieces, Audrey and Erin.


Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel. The family visited with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, GA on Saturday, March 14, 2026 prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
