Sally Elizabeth Kent, age 45, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. She was born on August 22, 1980, in Jonesboro. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Howard Kent and Peggy Sue Thomas Kent; and grandparents, Gilbert and Loinda Kent and Ruben and Edna Thomas.

Sally is survived by her aunts and uncles, Darlene and Terry Ledford, Haskell and Peggy Thomas, Martha Thomas, and Rodney Kent; a host of cousins, friends, and other relatives; and her canine companion, Bailey.

Sally loved music, musicals, laughing, and most of all, her cousins. She had a wonderfully quirky way of seeing the world with a laugh. Sally held a special place in her heart for her cousins, Rhett, Madelyn, and Grant ("Bugs"), and the memories and laughter they shared will stay with them forever. Wherever Sally was, Rhett was never far behind. The two were always ready for their next adventure, and Sally never seemed to run out of ideas for what they could get into together.

She loved watching Madelyn cheer and was especially looking forward to celebrating all the special moments of her senior year. Then there is "Bugs," whom Sally had the joy of watching grow up from the very beginning, often as he explored and discovered everything, while she laughed. Her cousins brought her so much happiness, and the love and laughter they shared were among the brightest parts of her life.

Although illness often held her back more than she wanted, she never stopped finding reasons to laugh, music to enjoy, or ways to make life a little more fun.

The final curtain may have fallen, but knowing her, she's probably somewhere backstage, laughing, singing along, and insisting she's perfectly fine. And if there's an encore, you can bet she'll be in the front row.
