Mrs. Ruth (Money) Thomas, age 91, of McCaysville, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at the Fannin Regional Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of the Copper Basin, daughter of the late James Abner and Maggie Evelyn Patton Walden. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Julian Thomas, Sr. She was a member of Coletown Baptist Church and a member and past worthy matron of the Beulah Chapter O.E.S.She is survived by her one daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Floyd Chapman of Morganton, GA, three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Allen and Carol Thomas of Epworth, GA, John and Patt Thomas of Senoraville, GA, and Jim and Judy Jones of Blue Ridge, GA; one sister-in-law Reatha Walden of McCaysville, GA; a very special friend, Judy Keys of Blue Ridge, GA; caregiver, Teresa Chastain of Blairsville, GA; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.Funeral services were conducted on Friday October 23, at 12:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Claude Mathis, Rev. David McLendon, and Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music was provided by David and Jo Marie McLendon. Interment followed in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jade Jones, Jacob Jones, Charles R. Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Aaron Martin, and Johnny Thomas. The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers: Freddie Cook, Dale Eavenson, Mike Russell, Jimmy Davis, Freddy Walden, Sandy Walden, Ronnie C. Miller, Danny Johnson and Lance Simmonds.
