Ruth Ann Queen, age 73, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Queen was born in Fannin County, GA on March 7, 1944 to the late Frank and Alice Goff Howard. She was a member of Harbor Ministries. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Candelaria, and a brother, Damon Howard.Ruth Ann was beloved by many. She was a member of the ladies bible study group at Harbor Ministries Church. She enjoyed cooking, always inviting her grandchildren to cook with her, and having her family over for Sunday suppers. She loved trees and flowers. She worked in her yard, adding a bush or tree here, and some bulbs there. She enjoyed quilting, even as she became more ill, she worked to finish "just one more quilt for the grandchildren." She loved animals, especially her pets, and they adored her. The world is a more beautiful and loving place because of her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Johnny Queen of the home; sons, David (Cynthia) Queen of McCaysville, GA and Kevin (Tenya) Queen of Ellijay, GA; a daughter, Angela Queen Candelaria of Blue Ridge, GA; brothers, Billy Joe (Carolyn) Howard of Ellijay, GA, Ronnie Howard of Blue Ridge, GA, and Steve (Brenda) Howard of Texas; sisters, Marie Loftis of Blue Ridge, GA and Kathy Bowers of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, James Candelaria, Sophia Queen, Anthony Queen, and Makalia Queen; and a great grandchild, Cayden Robinson.Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Denise Caldwell officiating. Music was by Denise Tallent along with Rev. Denise Caldwell. Interment followed in the First Baptist Church Epworth Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Anthony Queen, Gary Queen, Terry Flowers, Brandon Flowers, Travis Queen, Jeff Queen, and Joey Queen.
