Ruth Lucille Self Payne, age 87 of Ducktown, TN passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Valley View Care Center in Andrews, NC. Mrs. Payne was born on January 30, 1929 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Hadley Self and Ilar Owensby Self. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Payne was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Payne and a son, Tony Payne. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Sharon Payne of Copperhill,TN; daughters, Jean Payne of Kokomo, IN and Kathy Payne of Mineral Bluff, GA; brother, Jimmy Self of Murphy, NC; sisters, Barbara Deal of Epworth, GA, Irene Dale of McCaysville, GA, Catherine Robinson of Suit, NC and Lorene Phillips of Cleveland, TN; one grandchild and six great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Payne and Rev. Jerry Beavers officiating. Music will be by Shoal Creek Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
