Mrs. Ruth (Jerrie) Dunn Merritt, of Blue Ridge, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 7th, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 90. Ruth was born November 10th, 1933 to the late Hoke Thomas Jones and Ophie Stewart Jones.

She was nicknamed Jerrie by her father who planned for a boy. Most knew her as Jerrie, but she was affectionately called Ruth by her children and grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren were very special to her.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge and loved and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ruth was employed at the family-owned Blue Ridge Telephone Company for many years and enjoyed playing piano.

Ruth was preceded in death by her son, William Thomas (Tommy) Dunn, Jr., husband, William Thomas Dunn, Sr., and husband, Dr. Howard B. Merritt.

Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother and taught her children through her strength, courage, and perseverance as she modeled her faith and trust in God. She brought joy and laughter to conversations and will be deeply missed.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Robyn Dunn (Joe) Pack of Blue Ridge, GA, grandson Jody (Melanie) Pack of Woodstock, GA, daughter-in-law Emily Dunn of Blue Ridge, GA, granddaughter Sarah Dunn (Andy) Rhodes of Blue Ridge, GA, granddaughter Alison Dunn of Boston, MA, great-grandchildren Spencer Pack, Simon Pack, and Winston Rhodes.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Chastain Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. David Whitener officiating.
