Mrs. Ruth J. Mashburn, age 94, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Thursday August 28, 2008 in the Gilmer County Nursing Home. Born in Gilmer County, GA she was the daughter of the late Holmes and Roxanna Lance Johnson. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a founding member and oldest living member of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ. Mrs. Mashburn was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Lloyd L. Mashburn; infant daughter, Mary Lee Mashburn; infant grandson, Terry Mashburn; grandson, Chad Mashburn; brothers, Boyd and Luther Johnson; sisters, Edna Dover, Ida Ash, and Hazel Hughes.Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kennon and T.J. Mashburn of Ellijay, GA, and Larry and Joan Mashburn of Blue Ridge, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Roger Thrasher of Powder Springs, GA and Sharon and Jeryl Burnette of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Joel Mashburn, Amy Hellen, Tracy Kirkpatrick, Beau Thrasher, Renee Mashburn, Holly Wells, and Jessica Harris; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services were conducted on Saturday August 30th, at 2:00 p.m. from the Blue Ridge Church of Christ with Min. Butch Jones, Min. Terry Stuart and Min. Don Gilliam officiating. Congregational music was lead by Mike Horn. Interment followed in the Church of Christ Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Henry Mashburn, Nathan Johnson, Robert Miller, Harold Johnson, Randall Dover, and Gary Ash. All current and former members of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ served as an Honorary Escort.
