Mrs. Ruth Johnson Henson, age 81, of Blue Ridge passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Pickens County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Victoria Cox Johnson. She enjoyed growing flowers and gardening and was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. Mrs. Henson was also a long time member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was her husband, James Hobert Henson; and two siblings, Edith Johnson Henry and Harold Johnson.Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Angie Henson of Blue Ridge, GA and Greg Henson of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Wyatt Henson, Hunter Henson and Jamie Henson; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Kay Johnson of Talking Rock, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Bloodworth of Suches, GA; and one sister-in-law, Linda Johnson of Jasper, GA.Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Billy Ray Queen officiating. Interment followed in the Barnes Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dean Whitaker, Randy Young, Chris Young, Roger McTaggert, Nick Goggins and William McClure.
