Mrs. Ruth L. Dyer, age 87 of Morganton, GA passed away on Thursday March 12, 2009 in Lafayette, GA. Born in Fannin County she was the daughter of the late James and Ollie Rogers Towe. She was a longtime member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Arthur Virgle Dyer; and one son, Jimmy Dyer.Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bennie and Darlene Dyer of Trion, GA; one daughter, Mary Blanche Gilbert of TX; sisters, Bonelle Step of Dalton, GA and Viva Morris of Suches, GA; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Jerry Rice officiating. Pallbearers were Kelly Towe, Bobby Merritt, Billy Wheeler, Jim Taylor, Chuck Taylor, Vaughan Morris, and Steve Morris. Interment followed in the New Union Church Cemetery.
