Sara Ruth Smith Allen, 94, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on August 21, 2023. She was born in Hartwell, GA, to the late Van Dewey Smith, Sr. and Mamie Lee Carlton Smith. Ruth's heart was forever linked to her late husband, John Lewis Allen, as they journeyed through life together.

She found joy in watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball and cherished the simple pleasures of reading and tending to her vegetable and flower garden. Ruth's love for adventure and new horizons was evident in her travels alongside her beloved husband. Her compassion extended to animals, and she began her own personal cat rescue, leaving a legacy of kindness.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her niece's, Dianne (Roger) Allison and Karen Smith-Holt; nephews, Robert Smith and Jeffery Smith; a great-nephew, Kevin Morgan; her devoted caregiver, Robin Nash; and her feline companion, Doo Dad.

A graveside service will be held to honor Mrs. Allen's life on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11:00 am at Chastain Memorial Park.
