The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Ruby Huffman Lewis, age 82, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Blue Ridge, GA. Mrs. Lewis was born in Fannin County, GA on November 21, 1927 to the late Jack Hill Huffman and Mary Ann Thomas Huffman. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and besides her parents was preceded in death by her husband Earl Lewis, Jr. and a son, Lee Lewis. She is survived by a granddaughter and her husband, Donna and Jamie Norwood, and grandson, Daniel Lewis, and a great grandson, Bryant Norwood, all of Hendersonville, NC; sisters, Ruth Callihan of Blue Ridge, and Margaret Ann Cheatham of Mineral Bluff, GA; several nieces and nephews and a large number of friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Cheatham officiating. Music will be by Imogene Stewart. Pallbearers will be Steve Huffman, Keith Huffman, Wesley Huffman, Tommy Huffman, Scottie Huffman, and Jimmy Underwood. Honorary pallbearers will be William McGill, Frank H. Huffman, Bob Thrasher, and William Earl Thrasher. Interment will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery.
