Mrs. Ruby Edith Simmonds Cross, age 80, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 in the Gilmer Nursing Home, Ellijay, GA. Mrs. Cross was the daughter of the late W.I. and Lue Stella Mae Robinson Simmonds. She was a housewife and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her husband, Hansel Cross; daughters, Norma Shell and Olivia Cross; grandchildren, Angela Davis and Karen Blythe. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Hansel Lee, II and Gail Cross, of Blue Ridge, GA, Bobby Lee & Denise Cross of Dalton, GA and Paul Marion & Velda Cross of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Ornell Chadwick of Ellijay, GA, Martha Diane & Scotty Davis of Ellijay, GA, Rosie Ruby Lee & Danny Underwood of Boaz, AL, Loretta Marie and Mike Risdal of Sioux City, IA and Rachel Mae and Scott Searcy of Blue Ridge, GA; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Doyle Davis and Rev. Lloyd Deal officiating. Music will be by The Cross Family. Pallbearers will be Wendell Davis, Junior Kyle, Charles Cross, Bill Cross, Joshua Cross, Nathan Ray, Jonathan Davis. Interment will follow in the New Union Cemetery.
