Roy Lee Collins, age 74, of Copperhill, TN. passed away Monday, April 5, 2010. Roy was born in Cherokee County, NC and was preceded in death by parents, Wade Henry Collins, Sr. and Grace Montgomery Collins, two brothers, Guinn and Daniel Collins, three sisters, Anna Lee, Arlisa and Betty Jean Collins and one son, Rickey Collins. He retired after eighteen years as a Street Foreman with the City of Blue Ridge, Georgia and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Hazel Jones Collins of the home; one son, Brian Collins of Copperhill, TN; three brothers, Paul Collins of Ducktown, TN, Wade Collins, Jr., and Ike Collins, both of Copperhill, TN; five sisters, Louise Harris of Gastonia, NC, Marie Harris of South Carolina; Mary Jane Trantham , Dorothy Tipton and Helen Whitener, all of Copperhill, TN; three grandchildren, Brittany, Kristen and Tiffany Collins. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Montgomery officiating. Pallbearers included, Jeff Collins, Doug Collins, Jim Robinson, Jeremy Tipton, Chris Trantham, Brett Trantham, Bobby Owensby and Roger Owensby. Honorary Pallbearers included, Robert Green, Bill Payne and Employees of the City of Blue Ridge. Interment followed in the Bethlehem cemetery.
