The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Rowena Mercedes Greer Dunbar, age 71, of Chatsworth, GA who passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in the Murray Medical Center in Chatsworth. Mrs. Dunbar was born in Copperhill, TN on May 15, 1940 to the late Lewis Burdine Greer and Amanda Ada Petty Greer. She was a member of Chatsworth Church of God but attended the McCaysville Church of God most of her life. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Louie Greer and Johnny Greer and a sister, Lovella Cochran. She is survived by her husband, Vance (Buzz) Dunbar of Chatsworth, GA; sons, Jimmy Lynn Dills of Dalton, GA, Rocky Lane Dills of Chatsworth, and Terry Lee Dills of Resaca, GA; daughter, Ann Dills Grigsby of Dalton, GA; stepson, Scott Dunbar of Watkins Glen, NY; stepdaughters, Terry Dunbar of Trumansburg, NY, Mary Louise Woodford of Elmira, NY, and Pitter Dunbar of Trumansburg, NY; brothers, Jerry Greer of Tifton, GA and Buren (Boot) Greer of Dalton; sisters, Jessie Lou Newman of McCaysville, GA and Shelita Bice of Ducktown, TN; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the McCaysville Church of God with Rev. Herman Parker and Rev. Jerry Greer officiating. Eulogy will be by Stephanie Busie. Pallbearers will be Zack Dills, Chris Dills, David Greer, Stacy Dills, Howie Dills, Dewayne McGill, Ronald Newman, and Jackie Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Greer, Olin Greer, Jeremy Greer, Aaron Busie, Robby Kinard, and Johnathon Dills. Interment will follow in the McCaysville Church of God Cemetery.
