Mrs. Rose G. Pearce Key, age 83, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away January 24, 2009 in the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA. Born in Floyd County, GA she was the daughter of John Henry and Dovie Gertrude Thaxton Pearce. She retired as a Lunch Room manager for West Fannin School after many years of service. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church where she served for many years as a pianist, church treasurer and was involved with the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Key was a member of the Fannin Regional Women's Auxiliary and also enjoyed quilting, cooking and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years of marriage, Mr. Homer 'Jack' Key; five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Homer Gaylin and Cathy Key of Talking Rock, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Marie and Paul Singletary of Jasper, GA; three grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Key of Boerne, TX, Nathaniel Paul Singletary and Savannah Marie Singletary both of Jasper, GA; mother-in-law, Hester Hunt Key of Blue Ridge, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services were conducted on Friday January 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Barbara Davidson and Rev. Jennings Neeld officiating. Music was provided by Jerrie Sue Massengale. Interment followed in the Epworth United Methodist Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Junior Gwynn, Jim Carson, Bob Mathis, William Turner, Cecil Stuart, Brian Finnicum, and Ben Arp. Honorary pallbearers were: Charlie Waters, Reid Mathis, and the Epworth United Methodist Women.
