Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Wayne Menda, age 81, of McCaysville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Ron was born on August 2, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, to Frank Francis Menda and Virginia "Ginny" Hilgenberg Menda. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He later dedicated his professional life to law enforcement, earning an associate's degree in applied science in law enforcement, and later retiring as a police detective.

A man of deep values, Ron was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner, and a member of Lodge 455 in Springfield, Ohio. He had a lifelong passion for collecting, but his heart truly belonged to vintage cars. Whether he was restoring them in his garage or showcasing them at car shows-often earning first place ribbons and "Favorite in Show" honors-Ron found joy in sharing his hobby with others. His work even garnered attention in several magazines.

Ron made friends no matter where he lived. He had close friends from Springfield, Ohio, good friends he made while living in Sarasota, Florida that he remained connected to, as well as newer friends in McCaysville. A friend that he had for 31 years was his beloved parrot, YoYo, which he got as a baby, and was very close with.

Ron's light-hearted spirit, sense of humor, and fun-loving nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Ron never "grew up" and did not want to. He chose the title "Forever Young". A description of Ron, that popped up over the years, was "that boy/ you ain't right" which is written on the top of his Folgers urn he made himself.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Wayne Menda.

Ron is survived by his beloved fiancé, Carol Daniel; daughter, Deidre K. Stoliker of Springfield, OH; grandchildren, Catherine Ward and Skylar Stoliker; step-daughter, Lisa Lewber; and brother, Gary Menda.

A celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Ron may be made to Gideons International.

Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.akinscobb.com.
