Roger Dale Thomasson, age 77, of Turtletown passed away on August 15, 2022 at his home. Roger was born on January 14, 1945 in Murphy, NC to the late William Hill Thomasson and Hattie Evelyn Leatherwood. He worked as a forester for Hiwassee Land Company before spending the last 25 years as a carpenter building homes. He served his community in several capacities that included the Copper Basin Utilites Board, Tri-State EMC and the Grand Jury Foreman for Polk County. Also with a servants heart, he was a Past Worshipful Master of Ducktown Lodge #241F&AM, Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga, TN and a charter member of Friendship Chapter #499 O.E.S. Roger was also an avid outdoorsman especially hunting and fishing. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Deanie Thomasson of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carol Thomasson of Camp Creek, TN; daughter, Missy Thomasson of Copperhill; grandchildren, Haleigh (Aaron Powell) Thomasson, Cody Thomasson, Zackary Thomasson, Brooke Worthey, Zackery Waters, and Hannah (Tyler) Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Aubri Thomasson, Ava Powell, Willow Worthey, Rylan Ramsey, Kerstin Wooten, and Tyler Kimsey; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Theresa Thomasson of Peachtree, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Sam Graves of Robbinsville, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on August 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Akins-Cobb with Rev. Mark Reid and Rev. Guinn Green officiating. Music will be provided by Carol Thomasson, Janice Reid, and Colby Ledford. Interment will follow in the Farner Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of Ducktown Lodge #241 F&AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to Legacy Community Church at PO Box 103 Ducktown, TN 37326.
