Obituary

Robert Alan Williams, age 83, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on February 6, 2021. Robert was born in Grand Rapids, MI on June 15, 1937. He attended Creston High School and was a member of the 1952 Army ROTC Unit. He moved to West Palm in 1954 with his family. He graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1956 and then enrolled in Palm Beach Junior College. Robert earned the following degrees: AA at Palm Beach Junior College, BA from the University of Florida, MA from University of Alabama, and Specialist in Secondary Administration and Curriculum at Nova University. He began his teaching career at Jupiter Elementary 5th Grade, then Howell L. Watkins Junior High Grades 7 and 8 Social Studies, followed by Palm Beach Gardens High School Political Science Department. He entered the school administrator ranks as Dean of Students PBGH 2400 students, Assistant Principal at Howell L. Watkins Middle School 1400 students, and finally at Lantana Middle School 750 students as Administrative Assistant Principal. He retired after 33 years, in 1993. Robert then worked for Elite Security in Boca Raton, FL as a Sergeant in East Point Estates in Palm Gardens, FL. He then worked for Sunrise Security in Delray Beach, FL. He worked as courier for the Mulroney family owners of dog tracks, horse racing tracks in Florida and of the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Team. He then worked as Administrative Supervisor in a 155 bed nursing home in Okeechobee, FL. Robert moved to Murphy, NC in 1995 and later moved to Mineral Bluff, GA in 1999. He moved to Cherokee Village, AR in 2004, where he joined the police department as an auxiliary road patrol officer. In 2014, he moved back to Georgia and settled in Blue Ridge, GA. He served as property manager at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in the 1990's as well as a member of the budget committee. He served as Head Usher Team #4, Vice President of the Church Council, and member of the Board of Trustees at Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village, AR. He then served as a member of the Call Committee for a new pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and as a substitute usher. Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Alan and Mishelle Williams of Aurora, IL; and grandchildren, Logan Williams, Landon Williams, Lawson Williams, and Lake Williams, all of Aurora, IL.
