Robert Gary Nichols, age 74, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at his home. Born on June 3, 1943 in Mineral Bluff, GA, he was the son of the late Robert "Slew" Nichols and Evelyn "Doll" Nichols. He served in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the DAV. He owned N&N Florist and Silks for Less. He was a member of Mineral Bluff Baptist Church. He loved working in his garage and working any kind of puzzle. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jenny Ruth Nichols and Valorie Ann Roper. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jo Nichols of the home; daughter, Vicki Nichols Collis of Blue Ridge; and sister, Vivian Marie Sikes of Powder Springs. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Banks and Rev. John Newton officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Watkins and Jim Callihan. Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Scotty Payne, Chris Sikes, Grady Rogers, Jim Callihan, Tom Nichols, and Mike Earley served as pallbearers. Military Honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
