Obituary

Robert W. Laramore, Sr., age 88, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Newnan.

Born in Atlanta and raised in East Point, Robert spent many years in Palmetto before settling in Sharpsburg. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves and, alongside his beloved wife Jackie, served as cottage parents at the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Hahira, Georgia, and then nearly 20 years at the Georgia Baptist Children's Home - shaping countless young lives with compassion and love.

Later in life, Robert worked as a security guard at South Fulton Hospital until his retirement. He also volunteered for many years with the Palmetto Fire Department, where he drove the ambulance and bravely fought fires in his community.

Robert was a cowboy at heart - he loved all things horses, rodeos, and old westerns. He enjoyed road trips, good food, and time spent with his family. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Church and a man of quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Viola Laramore and sister, Nira Glosson Harris.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jackie Lee Laramore; his children, Bobby Laramore and Robbie (Tim) Roberts; six grandchildren and their spouses; twelve great-grandchildren; his brother, Rev John Laramore; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. His legacy of love, service, and strength will live on in all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Robert's life was held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Crossroads Church in Newnan, GA at 2564 GA-154, Newnan, GA 30265. Pastor John Hobbs officiated. Friends visited the family prior to the service at the church from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM. Interment was held privately in the beautiful hills of Blue Ridge, GA- where he often loved to visit.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Impacting our World Fund at www.crossroadsonline.org/give.
