Obituary

Robert Leon Allen, age 76, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on March 31, 2025 in Canton, GA following a brief illness. He was born in Morganton, GA to the late James Otis and Cosby Mammielee Ledford Allen. Robert graduated from East Fannin in 1968. He honorably served in the United States Army in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War. Robert worked as a Miner for the Tennesee Chemical Company where he later retired. He was a member of the Morganton Baptist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship and testifying. He also loved dancing, traveling and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death includes his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina Allen King and Dr. Daren King;  granddaughter, Oaklyn Townshend; and siblings, J.O. "Hosey" Allen, Ralph Otis Allen, William "Bill" Allen, James "JR" Allen, Martha Allen Holloway, and Kenneth Melvin Allen.

Survivors include his loving wife, Wanda Widner-Allen; children, Jill and Seth Stanley, Leann and Daniel Bolling, Jade and Scotty Townshend, Sarah and Ryan Deaver and Derrick and Alexis Allen; grandchildren, Liam King, Maeleigh King, Corbin Stanley, Jenna Stanley, Adam Stanley, Micah Stanley, Alyssa Bolling, Lilly Bolling, Colton Townshend, Carter Townshend, Lanah Deaver, Walker Deaver, Lincoln Deaver, Peyton Allen, and Alice Allen; siblings, Joann Willis and Ruth Long; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Claude Mathis officiating. Music was provided by Seth Stanley. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment followed in the Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Seth Stanley, Daniel Bolling, Ryan Deaver, Scotty Townshend, Duane Widner and Kevin Tankersly. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers were Johnny Harris, Sam Bennett, Rev. Sammy Ledford and Rev. Marvin Young. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
