Rev. Bill McGill, age 86, of Jackson, GA formally of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Vitas Innovative Hospice in Stockbridge, GA. Rev. McGill was born on March 7, 1925 in Pickens County, GA to the late William Thomas and Laura Ann Allen McGill. He was employed with United States Postal Service. Rev. McGill was a well known minister having served several churches in the area and was a member of Cherry Log Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #67 F&AM. Survivors include his wife, Christine Collis McGill of Jackson, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sue McGill of McDonough, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Harold Lowery of Jackson, GA; brother, Hoyt McGill of Blue Ridge, GA; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 2:00 from Akins Chapel with Rev. Doyle Davis and Rev. Kenneth Mann officiating. Music was by Patsy Beaver. Pallbearers were Keith Lowery, Shane McGill, James Turner, Wesley Lowery, Jeff Towe and Thomas Lowery. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Watkins, Reid Mathis, Danny Key, Clifford Stanley, Wayne Allen Cruse, Vaughn Galloway, Hayden Crawford, Kenneth Chastain, Pat Harris, Kimsey White, Tom Ball, Weldon Thomas, Kenneth Picklesimer and Elan Tipton. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memory Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
