December 4, 1958 – August 24, 2025
Rev. Larry Eugene Turner, age 66, of Scottsville, Kentucky, formerly of Fannin County, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 4, 1958, in Tate, Georgia, to the late Jeanette Hammontree Turner and Charles Rupert Turner. Larry faithfully served as a minister for 41 years, pastoring several churches throughout his life. He was known for his loving heart, humble and forgiving spirit, and good sense of humor.
In his free time, Larry enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing. He also took great pride in keeping his neighborhood clean, often traveling miles to pick up any neighborhood debris.
He will be remembered as a kind, faithful, and caring man who touched many lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette Hammontree Turner and Charles Rupert Turner; brother, Norman Turner; and sisters, Joan Turner, Portia Romine, and Retha Cantrell.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Brenda Allen Turner; children and spouses, Robin and Wesley Chastain, Billy and Carrie Turner, Sabrina Turner, Ronnie and Candace Turner, and Katie Turner; grandchildren, Evan and Victoria Chastain, Jacob Chastain, Ethan Turner, Averie Turner, and Adilynn Turner; great-grandchild, Lawson Chastain; siblings, Marcheta Turner, Lynett Smith, Lanay and Steve Foster, Brenda Underwood, Sylvia and Curtis Chappell, Sharon England, and Telete and Alfred Rickett; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Daniel Postell and Rev. Ronnie Dilbeck officiating. Music was provided by the Thompson and Chastain Family and Ryan Chastain. Interment followed in the Colwell Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Billy Turner, Ronnie Turner, Ethan Turner, Evan Chastain, Jacob Chastain, Wesley Chastain, Jonathan Higgins, and Jaylen Giddens. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 27, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
