Rev. Grace Allen, age 84, of Morganton passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 surrounded by her family. Born in Fannin County, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Homer Harrison and Martha Jayne Freeman Harrison. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Church of God. Rev. Allen pastored at the Mineral Bluff House of Prayer, and was a radio evangelist for 55 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Joseph Lake Allen. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David and Carol Allen of Morganton, Aaron and Karen Allen of Morganton, Tim and Kathy Allen of Morganton, Joel de Wayne Allen of New York, NY, and Jonathan and Lisa Allen of McCaysville; daughter and son-in-law, Grace Javona and Bobby Jones of Carbondale, IL; 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Jacob Kiker and Rev. Jim Holsenback officiating. Music was provided by Kathy Allen, Aaron Allen, Lynn Loosier, and Robert Strickland. Pallbearers were Dakota Jones, Darren Allen, Curtis Lake Allen, Jason Stewart, Burt Jarvis, and Timothy Mitchell Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Lela Sledge, Clara Lee Hooper, Christine Foster, Geraldine Anderson, Danny Patterson, Pam Patterson, Leonard Hunter, Mary Hunter, All of Rev. Allen's caregivers, Gwen Green, and Anita Green. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
