The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Ray Edward Haire, age 85, of Ducktown, TN, who passed away Wednesday, September 3rd at his home. Ray was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a son of the late William Henry and Isabell Allen Haire. He was retired as a Lineman for the Power Line Construction Company and attended the Mt. Carmel House of Prayer. He was a veteran of W.W.II having served in the U.S. Army and a member of the DAV. He was preceded in death by brothers, Quinton Haire, Elmer Cheatham, Colin Cheatham, Lonas Cheatham and Hubert Cheatham.He is survived by his wife, Betty Gilmore Haire of the home; two sons, David Haire of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Toby Haire of Ducktown, TN; two daughters, Mary Francis Haire of Ducktown, TN, Juanita Mae Price of Turtletown, TN; four grandchildren, Ronnie Price, Michael Haire, Crystal Haire and Lisa Haire Byrd. Four great-grandchildren, Luther Price, Alexis Haire, Hunter Byrd and Madison Byrd.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 6th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating. Music will be by Rev. Ray Cheatham and Wanda Cheatham. Children and Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Haire family cemetery with full military honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
