Obituary

May 17, 2026-Heaven got a little tougher today and those of us left behind will be a little weaker with this loss.

Ray Harold Beaver born July 28, 1944 gave life a tough 81 year battle. Ray was born in Copperhill, TN and grew up with 8 siblings in the McCaysville area. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a passion for anything mechanical or gun related and he could fix just about anything. In true Ray form, he battled to the end and showed his true grit. Ray struggled with many complications resulting from several strokes. In his last days, Barbara, his beloved wife of 61 years held steady his hand and together they fought his last fight.

He is leaving many behind that will cherish him forever and never forget the strong man he was. Those carrying the weight of this loss include his wife, Barbara, his brother Bill Beaver and wife Joyce, his three daughters, Joy, Lori, and Janet, those daughters' significant others, his four grandkids, Logan, Cory, Raya, and Avry, those grandkids' significant others, and most recently two great grandsons, Brooks and Bennett.

Ray will be missed terribly but never forgotten. In life he was our legend, in death our memories of him as well as his character will be his legacy.

A funeral service to honor Ray's life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.
