IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randall "Randy" Lee
Dammarell
April 25, 1956 – December 4, 2024
Randy, age 68 of Hobart, Indiana and resident of Blue Ridge, Georgia for 16 years passed away comfortably at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones on December 4th, 2024 after battling stage 4 kidney cancer for 5 years.
Randy was born in Gary, Indiana in April of 1956 to Robert and Gladys Dammarell (Anderson) and had 3 siblings, Ronald, Richard, and Renee. Randy will be deeply missed by his wife Lisa and three children Jacob, Colton, and Nicole.
Randy was a 1974 graduate of Merrillville High School and worked at the US Steel Supervisors Club before embarking on entrepreneurial opportunities centered around his love for muscle cars, movies, and working with his hands. His hobbies and endeavors included bowling league (two perfect 300's), automobile body repair as well as opening a video rental store "Think Video" in Demotte, Indiana, before eventually finding his love for carpentry and detailed craftsmanship. For most of his adult life Randy was a self-employed master carpenter who built and renovated homes, and meticulously fabricated beautiful custom cabinetry and finish carpentry work for many exclusive homes in Indiana and Georgia. His attention to detail was unrivaled and his clients enjoyed his personality and care as they entrusted him to work on their home.
Randy enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing and he passed this love onto his children who have and will continue to carry on his love for nature. Randy was able to combine his love for the outdoors with his craft when he rebuilt and reopened the dilapidated local bait shop formerly known as "Bowman's Landing" under the name "Lake George Bait and Tackle" in Hobart, Indiana, a few years prior to moving to Blue Ridge, Georgia. There he continued his work in carpentry around Blue Ridge with the same care and eye for detail used to serve those who benefited from his skills in Indiana. He loved his work and always strived to leave things better than he found them. He was often called upon by his family to fix cars and come to the rescue of their household problems.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald, and is survived by Richard Dammarell (Brother), Renee Cox (Sister), Lisa Dammarell (Wife), Jacob (Son), Colton (Son), and Nicole (Daughter).
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a date and time yet to be determined near Randy's hometown of Hobart, IN.
Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinscobb.com
