Ralph Davis Hughes, age 84, of Mineral Bluff, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Gainesville, Georgia, leaving behind a life marked by curiosity, craftsmanship, service and love. He was born October 1, 1941 in Houston, Texas and was the son of the late Austin Earl Hughes And Willie Pearl Treadway Hughes.

A licensed Ham Radio operator since the age of 14, Ralph achieved the extra class license and remained deeply engaged in the amateur radio community throughout his life. He loved the blend of technology, communication and connection that the hobby provided.

Ralph proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Japan and throughout the South Pacific. His time in the military shaped his sense of duty and broadened his view of the world. After returning home, Ralph owned a successful insurance agency and home building company in Texas. In 2007 he retired in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Ralph had a life-long passion for music and singing and found joy in both listening and sharing it with others.

He was an avid woodworker taking pride in creating with his hands and attention to detail - skills that reflected his patience and care.

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Holly, who shared his life and will carry forward his memory with love; his daughter Cherry Peipelman (Kyle) and granddaughters Elissa and Emily; daughter Kris Harrison and grandchildren Tiffany, Brandon and Josh.

He will be remembered for his curiosity, quiet dedication in the many ways he connected with people.
