Mr. Ralph Edward "Ed" Bowers of Mineral Bluff, a devoted husband, pharmacist, and man of faith, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 25, 2026.
A proud 1968 graduate of West Fannin High School, Ed went on to the University of Georgia, earning his BS in Pharmacy in 1973. His professional life was defined by a calling to care for others. After being instrumental in establishing pharmacy operations for Fannin Regional Hospital in 1977, he dedicated the majority of his 40-year career to serving the community at King's Pharmacy in Murphy, NC. To his many customers and employees, Ed was more than a pharmacist; he was a trusted friend.
Ed's life was anchored by his devotion to Jesus Christ. As a long-time member and Elder of the Eastside Church of Christ in Morganton, he led by example, sharing his faith with a quiet, steady strength that touched everyone who knew him.
When he wasn't behind the counter or at the church, Ed was likely on the water or in the stands. An avid bass fisherman, he spent countless hours in local tournaments and cherished recreational trips with his son and grandchildren. On Saturdays in the fall, he was a fixture at Sanford Stadium, cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs with unwavering loyalty.
Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Edwina Arp Bowers; his son, Ralph Edward "Ted" Bowers II and daughter-in-law, Amy Moates Bowers; his cherished grandchildren, Lillian and Brandt; and his sisters, Linda Burnette and Sheila Ingle. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ralph and Bernice Cole Bowers of Epworth.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Minister Robby Eversole Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ed's memory to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund (curealz.org).
Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinscobb.com
