Obituary

Mr. Phillip Lawrence Tallant, age 56, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Forsyth County, GA, he was the son of the late Hill and Irene Lumis Tallant. He was retired residential carpenter. Mr. Tallant served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict and was a member of the AMVETS. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Cumming, GA. He is survived by his wife, Angela Tallant of Blue Ridge, GA; son, Jacob Dylan Tallant of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in law, Misty and Michael Manning of Cumming, GA, daughter, Amanda Truelove of Mineral Bluff, GA and daughter, Katrina Wyatt of Blue Ridge, GA; two brothers, Johnny Tallant of CA and Joe Tallant of Big Canoe, GA; three sisters, Charlene Terrell of Big Canoe, GA, Carol McBrayer of Cumming, GA and Sarah Callihan of Cumming, GA and seven grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Interment followed in the First Baptist Church of Epworth Cemetery with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Jiles Meeks, Michael Ledford, Joey Gibbs, Coby Hughes, Jeff Taylor and Zachary Gibbs. Honorary pallbearer will be Eddie Campbell. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410 or Georgia Transplant Foundation at 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, 600 Embassy Row, Suite 250, Atlanta, GA 30328.
