After a protracted battle with cancer,Philip E. Sowell died in his home surrounded by his loving family December 24, 2016 in Cherry Log, Georgia. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Sandy Sowell, his son Greg Sowell, brothers James, Elmo and Bob. Phil was born February 14, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia to William and Mary Sowell who predeceased him. Phil was a driven professional who was in the forefront in software design for niche markets. After his company was sold Phil moved to the mountains and enjoyed all his many projects and walking in the mountains he loved. Phil was a brave iron-willed man who was called a warrior by his loving son, Greg. His bravery in battling his terrible disease was awe inspiring.
