Mrs. Peggy Rackley Potts of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family on January 10, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born on May 3, 1933 in Gilmer County to Ina and Coatus Rackley. She is predeceased by her parents, 4 of her sisters, Myrtle Olvey, Marie Quintrell, Martha Jones, and Jimmie Daves. She was married to Walter C. Potts (Jack) of Purcellville, Virginia for 64 years. They spent most of their life in Atlanta, Georgia where they raised 2 daughters. In 2007 they moved to Mineral Bluff, Ga. She is survived by her husband, her sister, Jonnie Ross of Blue Ridge, Georgia and her brother, Don Rackley of Clinton, South Carolina and her daughters, Vickie Schlender of Loganville, Georgia and Tracy Erickson of Murphy, North Carolina. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel, 7871 Blue Ridge Drive (Hwy 5) Blue Ridge, GA. Min. Butch Jones, Min. Keith Ritchie, Min. Rick Jones and Min Bill Johnston officiated. Congregational music was led by Bruce Pack. Serving as pallbearers were Erick Schlender, Ryan Schlender, Derek Schlender, David Schlender, Chad Erickson and John Manz. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice Compassus at 583 Highland Crossing, Suite 120, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Peggy Potts.
