Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Hurst Goode, age 92, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on January 20, 2022 in Blue Ridge, GA. Peggy was born in McCaysville, GA to the late Nathaniel "N.T." and Birdie Cabe Phillips. After high school, Peggy furthered her education to become an LPN working in the Copper Basin Hospital, Copper Basin Nursing Home and Blue Ridge Nursing Home throughout the years. She enjoyed yard work, gardening, and flowers. She also enjoyed working cross word puzzles, her home and special friend, Tiger. Tiger was a large orange Fuzzy Cat that followed her everywhere. She was a longtime member of the McCaysville Methodist Church. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, James Paul Hurst and Fred L. Goode; brothers, Earl, Frank, James, Herdis, Bill, Joe, and Gene Phillips; sister, Annie Ruth Hill; and great grandson, Taylor Thuma. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Lynne Hurst of McCaysville, GA; grand daughters and their husbands, Dana and Tim Thuma and Terri and Marty Burger; great grandchildren and their spouses, Nolan Thuma, Joel and Kimberly Burger and Jordan and Whitney Burger; great great grandchildren, LilaKate Burger, Max Burger, and one soon to be born, Jaxson Burger; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Betty Phillips; sister-in-law, Bobbie Phillips; and many nieces and nephews also survive. A private family graveside service is planned in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Thuma, Nolan Thuma, Marty Burger, Joel Burger, Jordan Burger and Steve Taylor. Due to the ongoing pandemic there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her memory to the McCaysville Methodist Church at P.O. Box 1088 McCaysville, GA 30555.
