Peggy Jo Golden, age 76 of Murphy, NC passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at home. She was born on Friday, May 19, 1939 in McCaysville, GA to the late Hoyle C. and Monnie S. Godfrey Rutherford. Mrs. Golden graduated from West Fannin in 1957. She had worked for Kings Leather, was a homemaker, enjoyed reading, and was an avid tennis fan, She loved to garden and raise roses. She was a faithful and loving Army wife. Survivors are her husband of fifty-four years, John L. Golden of Murphy, NC; sons, Mitchell Golden (Sheila) and Mark Golden; daughter, Mona Golden all of Murphy, NC; grandchildren, Bryan, Tori, Megan, Bradey and Connor Golden and Brittney Norton (Josh); great-grandchild, Reed Norton; canine friend, Barney of the home; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Crisp officiating. Music will be by the Golden Sisters. Pallbearers will be Scott Ray, Kelly Ray, Josh Norton and Aaron Warren. Interment will follow in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, NC.
