Peggy Ann Morton Chancey, age 79, of Turtletown, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at her home. She was born on October 8, 1945, in Columbia, TN, to the late John Lewis Morton and Bertha Westmoreland Morton. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. She worked for many years in the Polk County School System. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Roy Morton, Roger Morton, and Carolyn Truit.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Gene O. Chancey; son, Zane (Toby) Chancey; daughter, Melitte (Tony) Rose; grandchildren, Casey Dale, Trevor Dyer, Trent Dyer, Trinity Dyer, and Anniston Dyer; and siblings, Billy Joe Morton, John L. Morton, Randy Morton, Linda Gober, and Cathey McNabb.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 4:00 PM from Maple Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Weaver and Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating. Music was by Nakema Smith, Abby Smith, and Gracie Burkett. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Nix, Keith Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Kai Mobley, Scott Chancey, and Dylan Austin. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Rose, Eddie Stiles, Tommy Taylor, Trent Dyer, and Trevor Dyer. The family visited with friends at Maple Grove Baptist Church on Monday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
