Pearl Chancey Keener, age 93, of McCaysville passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Cameron Hall Assisted Living in Ellijay. Mrs. Keener was born on March 5, 1924 in Fannin County, GA to the late Pat Chancey and Cenia Hatfield Chancey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill and was a longtime member of the Jessie Ward Women's Group. She enjoyed taking church trips and helping out in the community anyway she could. She loved traveling with her late husband, Clyde. Her favorite trip was to Hawaii. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Willard, Gene, Lewis, Edith, Oma, Emily, Tobbie, and Rachel. Survivors include her daughters; Barbara Hughes of Blue Ridge, Janice (Smokey) Brooks of McCaysville, and Robin (Terry) Imler of Blue Ridge; a brother, Roy Chancey of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jay (DeEtta) Brooks, Julie (Roger) Pinson, Wayne Brooks, Lori Quintrell, John (Cheryl) Brooks, and Jason Imler; 11 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and many well-loved nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were conducted on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Music was by Delores Gibbs. Interment followed in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jay Brooks, Wayne Brooks, John Brooks, Jason Imler, Cole Quintrell, and Joe Chancey. In lieu of flowers, it is recommended that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Keener to First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill (PO Box 867, McCaysville, GA 30555), Compassus Hospice (583 Highland Crossing Ste. 120 Ellijay, GA 30540), or to Cameron Hall of Ellijay Activity Fund (114 Penland Street Ellijay, GA 30540).
