Obituary

The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Mrs. Pauline Boring Brown, age 102, of Athens, TN, who passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at her daughter's home. Mrs. Brown was born in Turtletown, TN to the late William Calloway and Missouri Pack Boring. She was preceded in death by all her siblings. Mrs. Boring was married to the late Leonard J. Brown on August 10, 1924. Her husband passed away in April 1965. One son, Gwen Brown preceded her in death on August 1994. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1929. After one hundred and two years of toil and hardships intermingled with the many joys of knowing Jesus and His saving grace-she laid down her life to sleep in Jesus until the return of her Lord and Savior. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Brown of Athens, TN and Phyllis Acosta of Grayson, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight J. and Mary Young Brown of Atlanta, GA, Harold K. and Barbara Bowman Brown of Atlanta; daughter-in-law, Betty Jennings Brown of Carlbad, NM, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Mitch Hazekamp and David Burger officiating. Interment will follow in the Shoal Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 18, 2009 after 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
