The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mrs. Pamela Jean Byrd, age 50, of Epworth, GA who passed away on Monday August 2, 2010 in the Copper Basin Medical Center. Born in Topeka, KS she was the daughter of the late Marion and Emma Smoak. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the McCaysville Church of God. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Miss Madison Byrd. Survivors include her husband Ronnie Byrd of the home; one son, Tony and wife Lisa Byrd of Epworth, GA; daughter, Brandy Byrd of Epworth, GA; step father, Peter Upton of Beaufort, SC; brother, Ralph Smoak of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Alicia Jones and Hunter Byrd. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday August 4, at 1:00 p.m. from the New Vision Church with Rev. Scott Truitt and Rev. Denise Caldwell officiating. Music was provided by Melissa Hicks and Melinda Walker. Interment followed in the New Vision Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Mike Waits, Mike Rhodes, Gary Harper, Tim Maeger, Terrell Hudson, and Bobby Hudson.
