Mr. Orpheus Erwin Deaver, Jr., age 54 of Morganton, GA, passed away Friday, December 7, 2007 at his home. Mr. Deaver was born in Towns County, GA, on July 20, 1953. He was a teacher for twenty years. Mr. Deaver was a veteran, serving as a Captain in the United States Army and was also in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mr. Deaver was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity of North Georgia College. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Deaver and one son, Christopher Warren Deaver. Survivors included his two sons, Orpheus Erwin Deaver, III (Trey) of Dahlonega, GA and Brett Samuel Deaver of Athens, GA; one daughter, Dawnn Gemella Deaver of Blairsville, GA; father and step-mother, O.E. and Jo Ann Deaver, Sr. of Blairsville, GA; mother, Janet Sparks Deaver of Blairsville, GA; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy Janet and Timothy Thomas of Gainesville, GA. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe May, Rev. Geri Worley and Rev. Michael Morton officiating. Music was provided by Judy Thomas. Pallbearers were Carlton Sparks, Mark Burrell, James Burrell, Mickey Sparks, Caleb Sparks and Brandon Sparks. Honorary pallbearers were Josh Sparks, Charles Souther, Tom Bunch and Dr. Gil Mc Ever. Interment followed in the church cemetery with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard and a bag pipe solo by Dorothy Bugg.
