Opal Torrence Jones, age 94, a lifelong resident of the Liberty, NC community, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2007. The daughter of the late Orlando and Florence Bell Torrence, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jones; brothers, Carl and Emory; sisters, Nona, Noralee, Carrie, Lucille; son-in-law, Jack Stiles and great grandson, Jared Stiles. Opal was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church.She is survived by her daughter, Lois Stiles of the home; brother, Edgar Torrence of Black Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Jan Andras of Newtown, CT, Jeff Stiles of Benton, TN, Jerry Stiles of Joshua, TX, Jay Stiles of Liberty, NC and James Stiles of Benton, TN; thirteen great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 5, at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with the Rev. Bernie Dixon officiating. Music was by Bill & Barbara Freeman, Amber Wills and Joyce Blackmon. Pallbearers were Charlie Stiles, Jeff Stiles, Jay Stiles, James Stiles, Bobby Stiles and Dylan Stiles.
