Mrs. Opal Sarah Jane Bunch Davis, age 98, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Davis was born in Pickens County, GA on April 26, 1911 to the late Thomas Walter Bunch and Bertha Henderson Bunch. She was a homemaker, and devoted mother and grandmother. At the time of her death, Mrs. Davis was the oldest living member of Blue Ridge First Baptist Church where she had belonged since 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Spurgeon "Duck" Davis; six brothers, Denver, Postell, Harold, Bill, J.I., and Curtis Bunch; and three sisters, Ethyl Shepard, Agnes Moss, and Evelyn Peeples. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Herman and Dawn Davis of Smoot, Wyoming; daughter and son-in-law, Sara Louise Davis and Virgil, Sr. Williams of Suwanee, GA; sisters, Ruby Milton of Marietta, GA and Marcille Gartrell of Jasper, GA; 7 grandchildren, Virgil Williams, Jr., Mike Williams, Brad Williams, Rita Davis, Cindy Davis Petty, Mendy Williams Bowling, and Valorie Davis Angel; 14 great grandchildren; and two wonderful caregivers, Joyce Smith and Carolyn Queen Zugel. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Blue Ridge First Baptist Church with Rev. David Whitener, Rev. James Howard Galloway, and Dr. Charlie Howell officiating. Music was provided by Brian Huffman and Marilyn Thomas. Pallbearers were Virgil Williams, Jr., Mike Williams, Brad Williams, David Bowling, Derek Petty, Justin Petty, and Dane Kirby. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park.
