Mrs. Opal Jane Craig, age 91, of Farner, TN, passed away Monday, December 15, 2008 in the Copper Basin Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Cherokee County, NC on July 31, 1917 and was the daughter of the late Burt and Jessie Alice Crowder Mason. Mrs. Craig was a homemaker and a member of the New Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lush Adam Craig; infant daughter, Molly Craig; infant son, David Lewis Craig; daughter, Susie Dean; brothers, Voyd Mason and Otis "Red" Mason; sister, Etna Harris.Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Joyce Craig of Athens, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Johnny Trantham of Copperhill, TN, Cathy and Bobby Wallace of Seneca, SC, Anne and Jack Conner of Covington, GA and Ruby and Olan Cole of Vale, NC; son-in-law, David Dean of Riceville, TN; sisters, Kate Coleman and Ruth Walker both of Gastonia, NC; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren also survive.Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 17, at 2:00 p.m. from the New Zion Baptist Church in Farner, TN with Rev. Farris Reid officiating. Music was by Calla Mae Miller, T.J. Crowder and Clyde Rose. Pallbearers were John Trantham, Jon Jones, Barry Cole, Ronnie Cole, Joe Cole, Robert Cole and Andrew Cole. Honorary pallbearer was T.J. Crowder. Interment followed in the church cemetery with a memorial white dove release concluding the service.
