Mr. Olen L. Bell age 91, of Rockdale County, GA formerly of the Copper Basin passed away on Thursday, January 01, 2009. Born in Polk County, TN he was the son of the late Otto and Mary Jane Harper Bell. He retired in 1957 from the Tennessee Copper Company as a Miner and Blacksmith. Mr. Bell was also a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Ann Suits; two brothers, Ezra and Earl Bell; three sisters, Della Dockery, Nola Jones and Doris Ratcliff. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene B. and James R. Odom, Sr. of Stockbridge, GA, Carol Jane and Bill Racukmann of Colorado Springs, CO and Kathleen and Jacky Pinson of Lilburn, GA; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Beverly Bell of Walhalla, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Lake and Nola Bell of Copperhill, TN; sisters, Edna Walker of OH, and Ruth Robinson of Hannah, SC; son-in-law, Lowell Suits of Lake Lanier, GA; brother-in-law, Bobby Verner of Epworth, GA; thirteen plus grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive. Graveside services were conducted on Saturday January 3, at 3:00 p.m. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cheatham officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund in care of Paul Dockery at 665 Dockery Road, Mineral Bluff, GA 30559.
