Obituary

Norman Lamar Cochran, age 65, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. He was born December 13, 1954 in Blue Ridge to the late James Otis Cochran and Retha Victoria Watson Cochran. He served as a Deacon at Young's Chapel Baptist Church. He worked as a mechanic for Shaw Industries. Norman loved his family, enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, and racing. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Cochran and Robert Cochran. Norman is survived by his wife of 45 years, Katherine Cochran; son, Nick Cochran of Blue Ridge; and siblings, Ann (Clifford) Stanley of Blue Ridge, Charles (Linda) Cochran of Blue Ridge, Dale (Wanda) Cochran of Dalton, Ronnie Cochran, Donnie (Nancy) Cochran of Blue Ridge, and Linda Mae (Randy) Burgess of Blue Ridge. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Young's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. David Mashburn, Rev. Max Curtis, and Rev. Jackie Cochran officiating. Music was provided by Pat Mashburn and Jim Stanley. Interment followed in the Young's Chapel Church Cemetery with John Walker, Scott Stewart, Dean Whitaker, Frank Thigpen, William McClure, and James Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were James Taylor, Jr. and Randy Young. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
