Nina "Dodie" Dolores Brockman, age 79, of McDonough, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Dodie was born on December 29, 1942 in Ducktown, TN to the late Earl Walter Derryberry and Hazel Mae Hughes Derryberry. She worked for 30 years as a financial consultant for Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, formerly known as Georgia Baptist Medical Center. Dodie was of Christian faith as a member of Griffith Memorial Baptist Church. She was incredibly gifted in her ability to crochet and knit. Dodie loved dogs, cooking for her family especially making desserts, substitute teaching, and her family, especially her grandson, Eric. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Wanda J. Derryberry, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nina is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Ruth Brockman; beloved grandson, Eric Brockman; brother and sister-in-law, Grayson and Marion Derryberry; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Jerry Borders; uncle, Max (Martha) Hughes; aunts, Merlene Hughes and Carolyn Hughes; nephews, Neil Derryberry and Scott Derryberry; niece, Kathryn Banks; great nephews, Timothy Derryberry, Nicholas Derryberry, James Banks, Christain Derryberry, Sebastian Arango and Wesley Banks; great niece, Rebecca Derryberry; and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Chapel with Rev. Brett Curtis officiating. Music was provided by Ryan and Holly Norton and Journey Dent. Interment followed in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the animal rescue organization of your choice.
