Obituary

Nancy Ann Wine Williams, 82, passed away Sunday May 16th in Blue Ridge Georgia.Nancy was raised in West Orange, NJ and graduated from West Orange High School where her father was the Principal and High School football coach. She was the only child of Chester Harold Wine and Edna Frances Dougherty Wine. Nancy went off to Bucknell University where she met and fell in love with her husband of 60 years, William J. "Bill" Williams. Nancy loved many things about Bucknell including being a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Nancy graduated in 1949 with a degree in History, a love for which she has passed down in her family. Bill and Nancy moved to Pittsburgh, PA after graduation where Nancy was a buyer for Kaufman's Department Store. In the late 1950's, they moved south first to Raleigh, NC and later to Atlanta which they called home for the next 45 years. Nancy was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and a member of the Atlanta Christian Women's Club. Four years ago, Nancy and Bill moved to Morganton, GA where they have been living with their daughter and son-in-law.Nancy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, friend and grandmother. Nancy loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She will also be remembered as a gourmet chef with a remarkable cookbook collection. Nancy and Bill were avid Braves and Falcons fans.She is survived by her husband, her daughter Wendy Williams Brantley, her son-in-law Dr. Rev. John Thomas Brantley, three grandchildren Frances, Luke and Susanna Brantley and in-laws Vicky and Drew Brantley. Nancy also leaves behind dear friends from Pittsburgh days including Gretchen Rasp, Jean and John Zora, Betty and Bill Hemeon and Dianne Stumbaugh; dear friends from Atlanta and Raleigh days including Ann and Young Daniel, Dorothy and Richard Shockley, Jan and Milton Gorman, Dick and Eleanor Miller, Betty Miller and Phyllis Budash. There was a memorial service on Thursday, May 20th at 2pm at Blue Ridge United Methodist Church in Blue Ridge, GA and there was a graveside service and interment at Arlington Memorial Gardens on Saturday, May 22nd at 11am in Atlanta, GA. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements. .
