Mrs. Betty Jean Ward of Morganton, GA passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. She was born on Wednesday, April 13, 1938 in Morganton, GA to the late Earl McDaris and Ethel Seabolt McDaris. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and natural born mother who enjoyed nothing more than taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she loved to work in her garden and hike in the mountains hunting for shells left behind by military training exercises. She was of the Baptist Faith.Survivors are her husband of fifty-seven years, Philip Ward; sons, Donald Ward of Morganton, GA, Ronald Ward of Morganton, GA and Roland Ward (wife Angela) of Blairsville, GA; brothers include, David McDaris of Morganton, GA and Wade McDaris of Morganton, GA; sisters include, Joanne Barrett of Morganton, GA, Jeanette Head of Morganton, GA, Cora Stewart of Blue Ridge, GA and Evalee Bowers of Blue Ridge, GA; Mrs. Ward's seven grandchildren, Ginger Pritchett, Danny Ward, Josh Ward, Scott Ward, Kyle Ward, Thomas Ward and Angelica Ward; she was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Riley Pritchett and Cole Pritchett.Mrs. Ward will be remembered for her genuine kindness and sweet, loving character. She was dearly loved by many family members and friends who will miss her earthly presence forever.Funeral services were conducted on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Alan Swafford officiating. Music was by Bud Eaton. Pallbearers were Danny Ward, Josh Ward, Scott Ward, Kyle Ward, Thomas Ward and Josh Pritchett.
