Obituary

Morris James Queen, age 87, of McCaysville, GA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at his home. Mr. Queen was born in McCaysville, GA on February 20, 1926 to the late Isaac Wiley Queen and Lillie Mae Pulliam Queen. He worked as a machinist for forty one years (1946-1987) for Tennessee Copper Company. Mr. Queen was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church McCaysville/Copperhill, and was a member and a past president of the Prime Time Choir. He was a 50 year member and a past master (1963) of McCay Lodge #423 F member of Ellijay Chapter #150 Royal Arch; member of Summit Council #19 of Royal and Select Masters; member of the Blue Ridge Mountain Commandry #37 Knights Templar; and life member of the Yaarab Shriners of Atlanta, GA. Mr. Queen served on the Fannin County Board of Registrations and Elections for 16 years; was a member of the Democrat party; served as a baliff for the Fannin County Sheriff's Department; and served on the Board of Directors for the Senior Center in Ducktown, TN. He was preceded in death by siblings Wayne Queen, George W. Queen, Geneva M. Queen Griffith, Lillian Queen Anderson, and Isaac Wiley Queen, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia A. Queen of the home; stepchildren; David L. Todd, Jr. of Dalton, GA, Judy T. Buntin of McCaysville, GA; and Steven L. Todd of MacClenny, FL; sister, Martha Nell Thomas of McDonough, GA; five grandchildren, Jessica Todd, Jacob Todd, Rebecca T. Swann, Sarah Todd, and Carmen Todd; and two great grandchildren, Abigail Swann and William Swann; 13 nieces and nephews survive and his special cousin Sally Kell also survive.Funeral services were held Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. Harry Gilbert officiating. Music was by Rev. Harry Gilbert and Katie Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of First Baptist Church McCaysville/Copperhill. Masconic rites were given by McCay Lodge #423 F&AM. Interment followed in Crestlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Ministries Fund, First Baptist Church McCaysville/Copperhill, P.O. Box 867, McCaysville, GA 30555.
